Hi

I am Kathy ..the one that mentioned with the new wheaton terrier puppy

(if anyone has one and would like to write to me privately I would love to

hear how they grow up!) Anyway, the book I got actually has a page on the

role of fatty acids and the important types of fatty acids. It says the lack

of adequate fat and fatty acids, or the wrong balance can result in dry,

scaly skin and brittle hair....also a balance of fatty acids is key to a

healthy coat. It goes on to say linolieic acid is an essential omega-6 and

how it is necessary and then talks about omega 3 and that it is found in

cold-water fish and flax. Finally, it mentions how you have to have the

right balance of omega 3 and 6 and it gives the ratio that their food

provides.

I was totally taken back when I read this page. I know we have talked about

eczema and my 7 year old usually has it really bad in the winter and summer

it is fine. He actually wakes up in the morning lookng as if he slept with a

cat that scratched him...so I keep him in cotton-no itchy sweaters and found

that Eucerin thick cream worked the best. Well after almost a year on Proefa

this has been the best winter for him!!!!!! So my child's dry, scaly skin

(as mentioned in the dog book) has improved dramatically...so now I know my

kids will have a rich, natural coat and my puppy's apraxia and artic will get

better too....I hope I did not offend any one with this post, but I was

shocked reading this...........and I have to keep my sense of humor or I will

wind up in a looney bin...........I wonder what would happen if I gave the

puppy ProEFA???? Kathy NJ with kenton and nolan and brendon and logan and a

puppy with no name yet...but considering " VISA " !!!!!!!!

Kathy,

Yes it is amazing they recoginzie in animals, hey they are not getting the

nutrients they need, we supplement the food. They tell all the benefits but we

are just now hearing about it for humans and lots of people still do not know.

It goes back to early times before processed foods. Dogs in the wild ate wild

game. this had all the nutrients they needed but with processed foods they did

not include all the fats and oils the dogs needed so they told people to give

the dog a raw egg or pour the fat off meat you cooked over their food sometimes

etc. now they add it to the food. Well it is basically the same thing for

humans. Before processed foods we ate wild game, fish and fresh vegetables.

Wild game and fish has the omegas naturally. But this is no longer a part of our

diets. I know people who never eat fish or wild game. So they have no good

source of these oils. So we must supplement. If our diets were perfect we would

not have to do this but they are not so we must supplement. Sadly more people

know this about their dogs than they do for themselves or their kids because it

is printed right on the bag of dog food or bringing up puppy book. but it left

out of most of the bringing up baby books.

I knew someone with a horse named VISA because she used her visa card to take a

cash advance to buy the horse at a horse show because she had to have it and her

husband named the horse VISA.
