Great post! Karla, in answer to your question about apraxic kids

needing special ed. refer to 's post.......it is a confusing

world of labels and treatments out there! The thing is, in our

country (USA) the people who PAY change when the child turns

three......why they chose this, in my opinion, ridiculous cut off age

is beyond me, but the fact remains that when a child turns three,

unless you can get an insurance or private pay for treatment, the

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION is responsible for therapy/educational type

activities. So, let's just say from age 3 to 5 your child still

needed pretty intensive speech therapy and you can't afford out of

pocket and you are in a big fight with the ins. co. then your kid

would be in Special Education through your public school to get the

therapy and we all hope that by age five they don't need it anymore,

right? Then they will not need special education. That is exactly

what I was hoping and praying for but right now my child is 6 1/2 and

still in the " special education " department at school. Oh well, it

is all part of the journey, and I am trying to look at it as an

opportunity, rather than a bad thing. :) Carol (mom to Micah and

CJ)
