Guest guest
Hi Janine - I have a 3.10 year old son who is Apraxic. He had no words at all until about 3.3 years old when I put him on the Pro EFA. Within a month, I started hearing a few words, within two months he was probably up to 25 words and then from 3 months on, he just exploded. Now he holds conversations with me and says almost anything he wants to. He still has articulation problems but I'll take that at this point. I have heard of a few children with Autism starting the Pro EFA and experiencing positive results from it, better eye contact and socialization being two of them. You asked if your son didn't have Apraxia would it do anything negative? and although I'm not an expert, everything I've learned tells me no. Pro EFA is only fish and borage oil so there's nothing in there that will hurt your son. It's kind of like getting him to eat a can of sardines in a gel capsule. Most of us with little ones poke a hole in it and squeeze the oil into juice or applesauce or something. My opinion is, since it can't hurt, why not try it? Good luck! in NJ KDR-1@... Re: Hi new/autistic Hi Janine- My son is currently five. At two he had loss of speech, he was spinning, no eye contact, putting everything in straight lines or grids, and he had no imaginary play. Since he's our only child, we didn't recognize that he wasn't just " slow " . I did start giving him flaxseed oil because his hair was crunchy dry. In hindsight, we believe that the oil kept him from going into true " autism " . I love this site because I believe strongly in the oils. We've had great success with the Pro EFA. My son still has slurred speech and he gets upset easier than other kids but everything else is going great. We did a lot with nontraditional allergy treatments (NAET/BioSet) and CranioSacral Therapy. I also think chiropractic care (by a holistic based chiropractor) is beneficial. I like the view of Dr. Goldberg ( Home /www.neuroimmunedr.com). He's not convinced that gluten free helps many kids but he does recommend avoiding whole wheat. You may also want to check out the SpeechDiet group. It's similar to this one but maybe the kids have more issues. I find that all of the kids seem to have several things going on with Sensory Integration problems being pretty common (we also had huge improvements with brushing/compresion therapy). I think everyone should give the Pro EFA a try. I've been taking it myself (2/day). My hair and skin look better than they have in years and my menstrual cycle is much more normal. My friends son who has auditory processing issues saw an increase in his complexity of speech/word choice. I have my husband taking it too. I was hoping that it would help his memory but might be too big of a wish!! Good luck
