Hi Janine-

My son is currently five. At two he had loss of speech, he was spinning, no

eye contact, putting everything in straight lines or grids, and he had no

imaginary play. Since he's our only child, we didn't recognize that he

wasn't just " slow " . I did start giving him flaxseed oil because his hair was

crunchy dry. In hindsight, we believe that the oil kept him from going into

true " autism " . I love this site because I believe strongly in the oils.

We've had great success with the Pro EFA. My son still has slurred speech

and he gets upset easier than other kids but everything else is going great.

We did a lot with nontraditional allergy treatments (NAET/BioSet) and

CranioSacral Therapy. I also think chiropractic care (by a holistic based

chiropractor) is beneficial. I like the view of Dr. Goldberg ( Home

/www.neuroimmunedr.com). He's not convinced that gluten free helps many kids

but he does recommend avoiding whole wheat. You may also want to check out

the SpeechDiet group. It's similar to this one but maybe the kids have

more issues. I find that all of the kids seem to have several things going

on with Sensory Integration problems being pretty common (we also had huge

improvements with brushing/compresion therapy).

I think everyone should give the Pro EFA a try. I've been taking it myself

(2/day). My hair and skin look better than they have in years and my

menstrual cycle is much more normal. My friends son who has auditory

processing issues saw an increase in his complexity of speech/word choice. I

have my husband taking it too. I was hoping that it would help his memory

but might be too big of a wish!!

Good luck
