Of course the HIV ban is still in place!

The bill that became law recently did nothing to remove the ADMINISTRATIVE BAN of the HHS in the USA!

If you are hiv+, you will need a waiver to be admitted to the USA is you're not a citizen.

Hopefully, Obama will quickly remove the above ban after Jan 20th, 2009.

Check http://immigrationequality.org/ regularly for more information.

Sorry the news is not more positive (no pun intended).

Subject: entry to USA - is HIV still a barrier?

Dear all,

thought there was no HIV travel ban since the UN meeting, but for my surprise when I intended to apply for a visa (which is no longer needed instead there is ESTA), there it was HIV as a criteria for travel into USA!!

Unfortunately I applied for the UN meeting due to my interest on this matter - HIV travel ban (and because this was an excellent opportunity like it was in Canada in Toronto Aids Congress to ban) and gave my name as HIV+.

It seemed there was the intervention of UN director in this direction and I heard about the ban. But what happened? just words?

Now I'm afraid to have problems with airport authorities... Any suggestions?

all the best
