But the company that makes the drug reportedly knew about Ziagen's possible heart risk two and a half years earlier. GlaxoKline was alerted about the possible heart risks associated with Ziagen back in May 2005, according to the British newspaper The Independent; however, the company publicly expressed surprise when the story broke early this year, and it has called into question the validity of the new study findings.
