Guest guest
Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can get good soil for a garden in the Twin Cities for a reasonable price? I would also welcome any recommendations for making the soil more rich for more nutrient dense produce. Thank you! Lindsey
Guest guest
I have a lot of composting goat/cow at the old farm just " wasting away " . No one will use it, you can have it if you go get it--bring shovel/fork and containers. To make your other soil better, you can do green manures (buckwheat, oats, clover, etc.), start them now and then till them into the ground later. You can also use these as weed controls between rows. Make a compost tea too--find some poop (pelleted is best, rabbit, goat, sheep, llama, alpaca) put it in a bucket, add water, let it brew for a few days. Use the water to give your plants a drink, pour slop at bottom of bucket near plants for additional feeding or on compost bin. Milk--helps bring up the microbes in the soil, also seems to keep some bugs at bay. Works well for all those nasty cabbage moth ickies. Companion planting works wonders too. Some plants will put good things in the soil, others will help repel stuff you don't want. I have a great companion planting guide, if you want me to e-mail it to you please zap me a line directly and I will get it to you. > > Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can get good soil for a garden in the Twin Cities for a reasonable price?
