Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Whoa, lots of interest in elderberries! Didn't realize folks were so in to it. If I've understood correctly a lot of you are going to cook it down in to tincture or syrup in order to boost your immune systems to 'fight' flu and colds come the darker months. I encourage you to look in to using them frozen(raw)or as a lacto fermented, enzyme enhanced living food instead of a dead, warped and sugary concentrate. Aside from fermentation, you really can't improve on the berry as it is off the bush. When you cook it you are breaking bonds, oxidizing the nutrients, cooking the biophotons out of it and warping the vitamins and minerals, causing the best parts of the berries,(the vital life energy) to dissipate in the process. Just a thought, your bodies will especially not appreciate the cooked and processed sugar when they're already straining to keep up with lack of sunshine and cooked foods. As for availability, I'm doing my best to harvest as much as I can, I'd say I'll have about 5 lbs at least, not sure beyond that. Right now I'm only harvesting clusters that are ripe, or 95%+ ripe and there are still some clusters that are totally green, so more to come, though I'll be leaving the birds their fair share also. Have not determined what a reasonable price to charge per lb is yet, but I will be selling them by weight, not by volume. These are black elderberries, just so everyone knows what they're getting. And when I said I'd have as many as you want, I meant for the person who posted the original message here, there is no way I'll be able to meet everyone's demand, one person alone wanted 15-20 lbs so that's not gonna happen, sorry, wish I could! Will put up another post and/or email everyone who responded to me when I've got an idea of how much I have. If you require yours unfrozen please email me again saying as much, otherwise these will get put in to the freezer here in the next day or two. I'm in Wisconsin and won't be in until thursday for sure unless some work opens up in the cities between now and then. Thanks for your interest! Guest guest
They make great kombucha. I use them in a second ferment. Tasty and fermented. I eat them of course as I drink the kombucha.
