Guest guest
Will ~ Thanks for the update! I've just returned from a month sabatical out of state and can't wait to see everyone. One of the difficulties doing farmer's markets all season long was that I was unable to attend any of these gatherings for the Trad Foods Group and since its February -- I'll be able to come. Will be bringing the following items for shoppers & swappers: Lots of locally & organically produced ferments: Sauerkraut, Caraway Kraut, Kelp Kraut, Kimchi, Root Kimchi (with locally harvested wild rooted plants of burdock & Jer. Artichoke), Purple Kraut, Kolorabi fermented Pickles. Also will have locally grown low-sugar jams, homemade flaxseed crackers & yummy soaked/roasted organic nuts. I also have some bulk ingredients on hand that I'll bring along too: Celtic sea Salts, Bariani organic Olive Oil, Dandyblend beverage drink if anyone is in need of some of these staples. If anyone needs to know how great the fermented veggies are, all you have to do is ask our local DEER in the backyard. Last week was cleaning off the tops of the crocks that are fermenting and placed this bucket outside off our back steps. Several hours later one of the local doe's, decided to have a sampling. 3 days later it was all eaten. I did this again the other day and sure enough, up through the woods she came and has made it through most of the bucket. Not sure if she's gotten to the bottom where the kelp and caraway kraut is ~~ but this must be the healthiest Deer in the neighborhood!!! So remember, a little bit of mold or aging cabbage which was not submerged in the brine is not considered bad, by any means by the deer and/or by me. Just skim, resubmerge and voila ~ you've got great kraut. See you Saturday~ Mueller/Garden Life Living Foods > > Oh, boy, another fun event in the tradition of our first April Foods Day back in 2004! Each event is slightly different but will basically follow the same format with lots of fun and good food for all. Children are totally welcome and anyone may bring food or food-related items to sell or barter. Always bring cash or checks too because you will never get a better opportunity to purchase all this great food we discuss here. Some of the best vendor/farmers in our community have already indicated that they will be bringing a bounty of good food. Be sure to bring coolers and bags to carry home your swag. > > This is also a great place to associate names with faces and make connections! It will also be the best potluck you ever experienced. If you are unable to find time to make food for this event, don't let that stop you from coming. Some people just bring plates, beverages or simple snacks like nuts, fruit or even dark chocolate! It is a practice for St Valentine's Day after all!! We always ask for a tiny donation to cover the cost of the hall rental and a few supplies. > > Here are the details.... > > VALENTINE'S POTLUCK! > When:Saturday, Feb 11 > Time: 2-5pm > Where: lauderdale city hall (we love this venue, it really works well!) > 1892 walnut Street 55113 > (lauderdale is located off Hwy 280 & Larpenteur Ave) > > Bring a dish to share as well as your own tableware (plates, utensils, etc) and/or > beverage.
