(Ours are online at VDOE's website, www. pen.K12.va.us) The state regs can go farther or can be better than IDEA, IDEA is the minimum standard states must follow. And believe me, we had plenty of people verifying that VA regs met IDEA standards before they were approved last year! The state regs will be what your administrators/coordinators should be referring to if there is any controversy. It is always fun to carry a copy with you and if they tell you we can't do this or we must do this, slide over your regs and ask " oh, can you show me where the regs state that? I am requesting a conference with all of her teachers to discuss what they have been doing, since I am clueless as to what all they are working on.
