Guest guest
My son is two years eight months of age and is having trouble putting words together as sentences... He has no problems repeating words that you ask him to say and can say them clearly. Ex: " Back Pack " or " Red " or " Blue " etc... My ex-wife claims that he has Apraxia. She has taken him to the local pediatrician, however, she has taken him to several and my son has been diagnosed from having Autism to Partial Deafness. His hearing has been tested and the Autism has been tested quite extensively and both have been dismissed. He is not shy and understands what you say... Ex: " Do you want something to drink? " He will reply, " Yes, please... " or " No, thank you... " History: My cousin's daughter didn't talk until she turned three and a half years of age. The behavior is identical to my son. She could repeat words that you say, but when she tried to talk on her own, the words were not clear... Then all of a sudden, you couldn't shut her up... She talks all the time and is as clear as a bell... My ex-wife does not spend much time with my two year old and he has two older brothers that do most of his talking for him. I don't get to see him much. We live in Texas and the laws here for Visitation do not apply to a child under the age of three. I would like to know your opinion or what can I do to help determine if he has Apraxia or if his speech development is slow to develop. Are there signs that will help determine?
