Guest guest
Lucy, , Jody, These posts all point to two things: KNOW WHAT THE PROGRAM IS ALL ABOUT FOR YOUR CHILD. KNOW YOUR CHILD...........paying attention to how your child reacts to a program will go a long way in telling you if the program is good, helpful and beneficial for your child. 's son was so happy and couldn't wait to go back.....GOOD SIGN. Lucy's grandson really resisted going back......BAD SIGN. Listen to the kids!!!! TheY REALLY WANT TO IMPROVE AND LEARN and they will tell us in their own way, although often it takes tremendous effort to try and figure out WHAT they are saying. Like 's mom was saying about their terrible experience with the public preschool special ed.....it took four months to figure out. Sometimes it takes only one visit and you know in your gut. Other times it may take a year! And the thing is, it goes on, like Lucy having to watch out for what reading program they are using........it takes constatnt vigilance. It sure feels so great though, when you finally find something that is positive and working, like s sons preschool, then you relax for a little while! All for now, Carol
Guest guest
Hi . When my daughter did not have homebound instruction, we had to include in her plan that the usual attendance policy did not apply to her, and teachers couldn't take away points for participation when she wasn't there. We also included that she would maintain credit provided she did the work regardless of the amount of days she missed. She is in high school and credit can be taken away for excessive absences. 15 doesn't sound excessive to me, but of course my daughter has missed over 50 days of school, so I am not a good judge. Good luck. Kim In a message dated 2/11/2007 12:11:11 PM Central Standard Time, rebpick1artist@... writes: The funny thing is that Elaney already has an IEP. I had to ask in December that it be included that Elaney misses alot of days. I guess that was not enough.
