It is very deep and spina Bifida was something that the doctors were concerned about when she was a new born. She is fine...just has a deep dimple. ~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~ (AKA Mollie's Mom) and Mollie 9 years old 1p36.22 deletion :>) ~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~

Audrey Audrey, She has had all three but I don't remember if the MRI was for that or something else. It was scary when I first heard the possibility of Spina Bifida. She has other problems but that is one thing we don't have to worry about. ~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~ (AKA Mollie's Mom) and Mollie 9 years old 1p36.22 deletion :>) ~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~

I never thought anything of it until our geneticist made mention of it in his physical exam notes. He explained that a dimple in this area is just one of the physical characteristics that tend to run in children with spina bifida but that it is also very common in the average population. Fortunately, we had already had an MRI and the results were normal. More than one of my well-meaning, healthcare professional relatives have asked me if we have had our son evaluated for spina bifida because of his low muscle tone. Four of his doctors have mentioned SB in their conversations with us but all of them have ruled it out. My thoughts are with you as you continue the testing with your child! Seemingly, we've gone through it all but have gotten no difinitive diagnosis...and that has become ok with me. From what I've read, about 40% of the population has spina bifida occulta with no symptoms or problems. That only about 5% have complications like a tethered cord. I talked with our pediatrician last night and they are going to set up an MRI for her. They are going to sedate her because she is hypersensitive to noise. I'm sure she'll be fine and this will be nothing but I'll feel better once they check this out. Audrey
