Hi all,

A remi here said that Folic acid should be taken on non-methotrexate days only. If you take methotrexate on saturday and sunday, take folic acid on remaining 5 days and NOT on saturday and sunday.

Its VERY important to take folic acid while having methotrexate

From what I have heard Folic Acid reduces the effectiveness of Methotrexate while it also decreases the adverse side effects of Methotrexate. Some doctors want to maximize the effectiveness of Methotrexate so they prescribe Folic Acid only on non-Methotrexate days. Other doctors want to minimize the adverse side effects of Methotrexate so they prescribe more Methotrexate and give Folic Acid every day. Taking Folic Acid every day costs more than only taking it on non-Methotrexate days but has fewer adverse side effects for the same effectiveness of Methotrexate. I'm not a medical professional so you should ask your doctor what is best for you. Good luck and God bless.
