You probably shouldn't be taking Tums (or any other generic calcium carbonate) with your Reyataz either. Tums help acid reflux by reducing acid in your gut, which is necessary for optimal Reyataz absorption.

I take Reyataz as well, and take supplemental calcium for osteopenia. I switched from calcium carbonate to calcium citrate, in the hopes that calcium citrate doesn't buffer stomach acid as calcium carbonate does. To be extra sure, I try to take the calcium supplements a couple of hours after my Reyataz. If you take calcium carbonate or Tums, you should definitely take them a couple of hours after your Reyataz dose.

I'm taking norvir, reyataz, truvada. Is there any safe over the counter or prescription medication that can help with this on going issue. Tums no longer seem to do the trick. Thanks AllJerry
