Guest guest
Jeff taylor is our in house expert on this subject I have had what you had and got it treated right away. But to be honest with you, precancerous tissue really does not progress that fast when your cd4 cells are high (mine are not that high) And once you treat an area, that area will shine differently forever in future anoscopies, which can be confusing if you are using a new doctor then But jeff will have a lot more words of windom on this issue. Jeff actually is part of the team at the national institute of health that deals with malignancies in hiv Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T HPV and anal cancer treatment My anal PAP revealed atypical cells so a high resolution anoscopy was performed... biopsy of several areas showed pre-cancerous cells ranging from AIN 1 - AIN 3. I was referred to a colo-rectal surgeon to have the areas removed either via IRC or surgery. The facility that did the pap and anoscopy had already scheduled me for IRC at their office but then my doc decided IRC might not be appropriate and referred me to the colo-rectal for further exam. Colo-rectal guy examines me and says that unless there are visible lesions he recommends taking no further action and to monitor every 3 months watching for any changes. His position is that any type of procedure would do more harm than good and as long as the lesion was not visible he didn't recommend any procedure to correct. He also said that atypical, pre-cancerous cells are pretty much everywhere in the area once you have HPV so you can't eliminate it completely just by doing IRC on a few areas that happen to be identified. He says that the pre-cancerous cells may never progress. Does this sound like the correct approach? I only ask because had I not seen colo-rectal guy I would have already had the IRC. I'm not hot to have my butt lasered or operated on and since this is what he does for a living and he is actually turning away business I would tend to think his conservative approach is justified... if he wanted to make a buck he'd just schedule me for a procedure...
