Guest guest
Check with your local feed mill, many of them will have a poultry supply source that you can order birds from and have them delivered directly to the mill. Murray is spendy. Also try craigslist, you may have to get heritage breeds but they taste yummy too! > > We were hoping to raise a few (3 or 4) turkeys this year, but just checked the Murray McMurray hatchery website, and there is a minimum order of 15 birds, which is more than we can handle right now. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a source where we could buy just 3 or 4 poults. I am in the Twin Cities area for another month, and then will be in the Albert Lea area for the growing season. > Thanks! > > - >
Guest guest
Thanks, . We actually are hoping for heritage breeds. Nothing on craigslist right now, but I'll keep looking. Thanks for the advice. Not sure about our feed mill, once we get down to the farm I'll look into that, too. - > > > > We were hoping to raise a few (3 or 4) turkeys this year, but just checked the Murray McMurray hatchery website, and there is a minimum order of 15 birds, which is more than we can handle right now. Guest guest
Hey , If you are looking for heritage poults I may be able to help you out. I am going to get my butcher turkeys from the Amish up here and raise up a flock of heritage turkeys for my own fun and probably a few extra for butcher. In the next month or so I will manage to have found who I will buy from and get either eggs or poults, if you want some I can get extra. I have not decided what breed or breeds I want yet--so many to choose from! I do know there are 2 good breeders who do advertise on craigslist each spring. Also check out the swaps--you can get some good deals if you look hard enough. > > > > > > We were hoping to raise a few (3 or 4) turkeys this year, but just checked the Murray McMurray hatchery website, and there is a minimum order of 15 birds, which is more than we can handle right now. Guest guest
, where are you located? That might work out really well. Thanks for the offer. What do you mean by swaps? Some sort of livestock swap?
