Guest guest
The Brigance is a very common assessment instrument that is used in special education to assess a child's growth during the school year. It is administered individually and the teacher creates her classroom objectives anad goals for the coming year based on what the student has mastered developmentally and what the student needs to master. It will go in your child's main file but it is only one assessment instrument. The information in your child's file is usually kept for 5-7 years, depending upon the district. You can request a copy of the test. > >Hi Everyone, > >My almost four-year son in the preschool disabled program in our school >district (in NJ). His IEP review is scheduled for next month. Guest guest
That is why parents should make all requests IN WRITING and if they want specific data recorded and copies of it, it needs to actually be written into the IEP so that they are accountable for it. Long story short, they said that they don't keep copies of correspondence between teachers, therapists, etc. In my son's records there is only stuff that I already have a copy of (IEPs, assessments, letters of notice for IEP meetings). My son's record covers two years of early childhood preschool. Does this sound right? What are schools required to keep for preschool age kids? I just find it incredible that they don't keep any teachers, notes, IEP tracking sheets, etc. Tricia Morin SPEAK, St. Louis Parent Extension for Apraxic Kids
