First, here is a list of seed companies owned/supplied by Semenis which is owned

by Monsanto. Monsanto purchased them (Semenis) in 2005 if I remember correctly.

While some of these companies may offer heirloom and non-Monsanto products, I

avoid them. Monsanto is evil.

De Ruiter seeds is Monsantos protected veggie seed department. Most of this is

going to be large growers, hoop houses/green houses.

Semenis also directly sells some veggie seeds directly to large dealers who in

turn may resell to smaller programs (back yard gardens).

For veggies I have purchased from:

Baker Creek--awesome germination, more seeds than listed in every pack, they

keep well too. I started some last year that were in the packs for 3 years and

I had about 80% germination in the worst flat planted. rareseeds.com And

shipping from them is $3 no matter how large your order.

Annies--another great company. And those seeds sprout! helped water last

winter when we were planting and he watered some of the seed packets. We ended

up planting over 300 sprouted celery seeds. I don't think there were any seeds

in that packet that did not sprout!!

Seed Savers Exchange is great. I am not sure if they were purchased by Monsanto

or someone who owned stock or what the rumor was but may be worth checking into.

Either way, they do have good seeds and if you are a member you have access to a

much larger amount than what is listed on the site or catalogs. seedsavers.org

This is where I have purchased some of my grains from in the past.

seedsofchange.com Owned by Mars candy company but they do have good seed. lol!

Here is a list of who has signed the safe seed pledge:

have to see who the parent company is of some of these retailers, I don't have

time to look them all up.

Last thing about Monsanto/Semenis:

Richters is a good place to get Herbs. They are out of Canada. Good selection,

a bit spendy tho.

Another way is to trade seeds with people who have heirloom seeds.

You can also keep your seed from year to year on the heirlooms. They are open

pollinated so some things need a bit of space to not cross pollinate but it can

be done with a little bit of research on how far to distance them, how to save

the seed, and how to keep them from cross pollinating. It is worth it tho, I

have many different types that I have saved over the years.

And heirlooms are yummy!!

Oh--trees and such: Treesofantiquity.com They have them divided up into zones

as well as a bit of history.

Have fun!
