Guest guest
If you are taking Viread I would strongly suggest getting your vitamin D level checked. For many years I have been taking 4000 IU a day. My level last year was within the normal range. Recently, I had my vitamin D level checked again and I was seriously deficient. I'm now taking 9000 IU a day and will have my level checked again in 6 weeks. With the broad range of health benefits seen with adequate vitamin D, it is not a nutrient that you want too little of. > From: PoWeRTX@... <PoWeRTX@...> > Subject: Vitamin D and Viread- Should I be concerned? > > Date: Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 4:35 AM > _http://thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/Nutrition/Current/Q197640.html_ > > (http://thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/Nutrition/Current/Q197640.html) > > > > Another report of Vitamin D and cardiovascular risk > > _http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/news/20081201/too-little-vitamin-d-puts-he > art-at-risk?src=RSS_PUBLIC_ > (http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/news/20081201/too-little-vitamin-d-puts-hear\ t-at-risk?src=RSS_PUBLIC) > > > Regards, > > Vergel > powerusa.org > **************Life should be easier. Guest guest
Vitamin D also has anti-microbial effects that are important in efforts to resist infections. Do a google search " vitamin D anti-microbial " and you'll come up with a lot. " The hypothesis that vitamin D plays a role in the mediation of TLR signaling in the infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis is experimentally augmented by showing that one of the key molecules, VDR is expressed upon stimulation with TLR-ligands in human monocytes. " From: http://binf.twoday.net/stories/1628062/ There's a lot more if one wants to read up. I am currently taking 7500 IU of vitamin D3 (not D2, which is not as active) per day because when I took less my blood tests for OH-vitamin D didn't show a high enough level to be in an optimal range to reduce cancer risk. The three world experts on vitamin D say that " In the absence of adequate sunlight some people may need 4,000 to 10,000 IU per day to arrive at adequate blood levels of vitamin D.
