Hi! One SLP who has been highly recommended to us

from a few sources, including the Autism Foundation of

NY, is Gayle Merrefield. Her e-mail is

MerrefiG@...; she monitors and posts sometimes to

this list. She is giving a speech (no pun intended)

on PROMPT therapy on February 20 at a location in

Staten Island; I don't have the information with me so

I can't tell you where. Contact her; she is extremely

helpful and if she can't take your child on, she will

recommend some of her colleagues to you.

Good luck!

Jim

Go with what the slps say. If he has gone through their language testing and

that's what they both say, believe them. Take a look at this site for resources

and more about diagnosis and who should do it http://www.apraxia-kids.org/ . I

understand your desparation. We've all felt it.

Thanks for adding me to your mailing list. This is a little new to me. My

son has not been diagnosed by a doctor, but both his home and pre-school

speech therapist strongly suspect apraxia. I'm taking him to a neurologist in

Manhattan, but I'm also looking for a speech therapist/speech-langjage

pathologist with experience with apraxic children to do an independent

evaluation. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks so much. Confused and

desperate right now.
