Guest guest
Special thanks to and Dawn for your response to our kindergarten worries. What we have decided to do is let his school physiologist do his testing. He is also doing a behavior function basement. Than when we have our IMP meeting in May and we will make our decision than. I will ask for a aide for him. Many thanks, Gail ----- Original Message ----- From: kcholt11 , thanks for sharing the funny story about the hair gel! hilarious! here is something funny my 6 1/2 yr. old said the other day at the table when he was thirsty: " more milk PLEASE, there's a DROUGHT over here you know! " (we live in the northeast which is experiencing a pretty bad drought since last summer.....who would have thought he was listening!) Gail, last year when I joined this group, what to do with my kindergarten age child was a puzzle.......he was turning five at the end of JUne and in our town you must be five by Sept. 30 to go to kindergarten so he would have been the in youngest third of age but he is huge....off the charts in size....my younger brother said essentially the same as Dawn....that it won't be the age as much as the skills and if you are big they certainly aren't going to pick on you! (male perspective I guess).....we decided to send to a high quality regular private preschool, that the school agreed to pay for, small in size and then send him to kindergarten at age six and this would have worked fabulously I think except that the private regular preschool wouldn't take him as he wasn't potty trained! oh well. anyway, that would be my suggestion....if you can even find a quality, positive preschool...many towns don't have them (the National Association of Education of Young Children NAEYC would be a good place to look for certification) and then get the school to pay for it.....this would help you see how he transitions to something new since he has already been in the preschool. just thought I would add my two cents. Dawn, Thankyou so much for all your recent posts.....have appreciated you sharing so much! your two boys sound so much like my two!
