Guest guest
Well, the new speech therapist for my daughters from the school district is now saying that my daughter may not qualify for services. Now, I wonder how this can be true. She cannot say k & g sounces without lots of prompting. She cannot say any sp words like spider. I still have a hard time understanding her at least 20% of the time. Now, is definitely not as delayed as , but she is delayed. Both girls have very high receptive language. I'm frustrated and don't know what to do. In the meantime, our new insurance has denied speech therapy even though she has brain damage. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Suzi
Guest guest
Hi SUzie, I recently went through a similiar scenario in regard to physical therapy. The school said it could be helped during his OT sessions. I received a private evaluation which I forwarded to the school and basically said there seems to be a conflict and we would like an independent educational evaluation. Keep in mind this is paid for by the school and someone not affiliated with the school does it. They either will do it or have to respond in writing as to why they don't agree. It can go to due process at this point. My district opted to just provide the service rather than fight it. You can either have her most recent SLP give you an evaluation saying why she needs it or seek out a new opinion before going to them with your findings. The IEP_Guide list serve has lots of good info in their Bookmarks section re: IEE. Good luck. --- In @y..., " luckygmstwife " <suzi_knowles@p...> wrote: > Well, the new speech therapist for my daughters from the school > district is now saying that my daughter may not qualify for > services. > > Now, I wonder how this can be true.
