Hi, My son is 3 years old and has been diagnosed with apraxia as well

as hyptonia and SID. He just began prompt therapy and started the pro

efa a few months ago and has made some progress with his sound

production. My question is this, Around a year ago someone mentioned

to me that I should go to a developmental optometrist because my son

was extremely fearful of everything and was not at all focused. We

went and the doctor gave him prism glasses. He said it helps for

sensory issues and focusing. We heard stories where these glasses

really helped othr kids and it helped my son a little but, he was

still very fearful and totally unfocused in unfamiliar or crowded

surroundings like school etc.. He was a different child at home. We

recently went to another doctor who said he was wearing the wrong

prescription and gave us new lenses. He showed us the way he saw

which looked really bad and he said with the glasses and therapy he

will be a changed child. Anyways those glasses seem to be wrong as well

because he's gotten worse. His eyes seem to hurt a lot and he is

doing a ton of self stim behaviors for eyes like rolling a wheel and

watching it turn forever. I just wanted to know if anybody has used

these doctors and seen results. Do you know a name of a good doctor.

It really looks like he can't see well. He is so fearful and

ovrwhelmed with anything new. Sorry I went on for so long but, this

is so frustrating! Thanks for all your advice and help.

Debra
