I wanted to tell you a little bit about my experience. My child goes to both

special ed and typical preschool. He happens to be more comfortable at his

special ed school although now it seems he likes the other school too. In

his special ed class he has kids that will not qualify next year because

they are doing so well. He also has a couple that have a very hard time with

language and he has one child that cannot walk at all and one that walks

with braces. The wonderful thing about 3 year olds is they do not have any

preconceived notion of what is " normal " and what is not. I am glad my son

has been exposed to kids with all different disabilities. He has told me

things like " cant walk " or other differences of kids but it does not

phase him at all. Now his typical class, I am not sure of. I believe he

feels different. I think that he is a very silly boy and is a bit of a clown

because this is his way of compensating when he cannot fully involve himself

in the conversation. He did come home oneday and asked me " Why I talk

different? " He knows he speaks differently than the other children. I

think he enjoys his typical school but feels like a king in his special ed

school. BTW, he will be 4 in June. Deborah
