Guest guest
Just want to share a short story with all about dolphins! A few years back, I had the opportunity to swim with the dolphins. My husband and I had rented a boat off the coast of Florida (Gulf), and the man we rented from shared with us a place to go that the dolphins would swim up to the boat. He warned us that the dolphins were wild, and to not get in with them, because they could become aggressive. We got to the spot where the dolphins were, and sure enough they came right up to the boat. On this particular day, the water was covered in jelly fish, I mean wall-to-wall jelly fish. We stopped our boat, and I looked at my husband and said I was going to jump in, he thought I was crazy!! I jumped in and at first the dolphins backed away. After a minute they came right up to me, and swam underneath me and all around me. The jelly fish were really bad, one really long jelly fish wrapped his tentacle around me leg a couple of times, though I felt no pain. I stayed in for about 20 minutes, the dolphins were cautious, yet still would swim around me. I was beside myself, almost in another world, it was an amazing feeling, and I absolutely had no fear!! At the end of the day, I had little red sting marks all over my legs, yet I felt no pain from the jelly fish stings, no swelling or anything! I must say it was the most incredible experience, and would do it again in a heartbeat. I have read about the studies that are done with children and the dolphins, and think that it would help children with apraxia. Too bad studies have not been done on that, and too bad it is so expensive that we all could not give it a try! It just amazes me hearing the studies, and seeing specials on tv about what dolphins do for humans, they are truely an incredible species, and we as humans must repsect them and have alot to learn about them!! Just wanted to share that story!! Liz http://kidstalkback.tripod.com/kidstalkback/ From: "
