Guest guest
, My ds started speech at 29 months. I often felt he was not motivated to talk. Now at 4.4 I can tell you he is thrilled to be able to communicate with us. I am certain that if he could have talked at 2 he would have. Apraxia is frustrating not only to us parents but mostly to our wonderful children. 2 years ago the idea that my ds was delayed and the prospect of years of speech seemed like the worst thing in the world. Today it just doesn't seem that important. The important thing is I can have a conversation with my ds and know what he is thinking and feeling. He still goes to speech, is still not completely potty trained and will likely have LD's but it just doesn't feel so overwhelming anymore. The first time your child expresses a thought to you (something you couldn't have guessed without words) it is all worth while. Hang in there.
