Re:ProEFA/Efalex...etc. (udo's oil)

I'm a big supporter of essential fatty acids in general, and specifically

Nordic Naturals ProEFA. I gave my son flax seed oil when he was two (he's

now five) because he had very dry hair (we were oblivious to his

developmental delays and regressions at that point). We will always feel

that the oil kept him from going into classic autism (at the time he was

spinning, no eye contact, loss of speech, no imaginary play, lined everything

in straight rows, and banged his head on the ground).

I started him on ProEFA last August with tremendous results with both speech

and temperament (yes - the words do magically appear). However, sometimes

his speech will still regress (become more slurred) and I will take him of

the ProEFA for a few days. Three days ago I put one capsule of the Udo's Oil

in his juice (instead of the ProEFA) and the improvement in his speech was

undeniable. We see this type of improvement regularly with the Pro EFA - and

though it does tend to regress, there are improvements that do not diminish

(such as complexity of speech).

I plan on continuing with the Udo's until I see a regression then I'll go

back to the Pro EFA. I personally don't feel the need to discuss it with a

pediatrician (that's my own opinion - I'm sure others may disagree). And if

you could get your child to eat a lot of variety of fish (though there is a

mercury issue) that would also be a way to get the fatty acids into their

system.

Good luck-

Hi!

I haven't seen any improvement, but I too am using Udo's Choice. It

comes in a liquid and my daughter will mostly take it right off the

spoon. Also, since these are oils that she would get in foods, I

don't feel the need to discuss it with her ped. except for his

information to pass on to his patients.
