Guest guest
My son ie went through the Berard method of AIT through the Center in Budd Lake. He went last summer for 2 half hour sessions a day. I have to tell you, he was babbling away with the headphones on. They recommended we go on to the next level, Tomatis, but it is VERY expensive and we are still waiting for our insurance to pay the $1400.00. They paid for the initial eval (350.00) and Dr. Agin even backed us up for the necessity for this therapy. ie has severe apraxia and we have tried a little of everything. Currently he is seeing a PROMPT certified therapist. He is using PECS and a few signs. He has hand apraxia as well. He is currently sipping out of a straw(something he couldn't do a month ago) closing his lips when prompted, attempting to make the m sound. Not that I am giving up, but I don't think ie will ever be a conversationalist. We see our neurologist Tuesday.. If you are reasonably wealthy, the AIT is the way to go in my opinion. ie's eye contact increased as did his babbling. But now it is very inconsistent. I think you have to go the whole nine yards for it to be entirely effective. Just my 2 cents. Hoping everyone is seeing some type of progression with your sweeties!
