2 Scoby Qs: beautifying and cutting

I have a scoby which has grown bigger and I need to reduce the amount in that

bottle but I

don't think I can easily get it through the top. Is it all right to cut it in

half and take out

each half?

Also, the scoby I got was beautiful: it looked like a small round of cheese.

My scoby is **ugly** and everyone is scared of my kombucha tea. How can I grow

it so

that it will look like the original one I got?
