One child (approximately 5 yrs old) I saw used both hands, and when tested it

was found that she never crossed midline. She was quite clumsy and was in PT

and OT for apraxia. They immediately made that a goal in PT (to cross midline).

Once she choose one hand over the other, she progressed quickly in PT.

Best wishes

....about the hand preference....I have identical twins boys that are apraxic

and will be 4 at the end of this month....Logan has always used his left hand

and Brendon is right...then around October last year decided to try his left

and I swear it is because of his brother....his pre-school hand. teacher felt

he needed to make a " decision " so she decided to try and make him stick to

his right hand and I did always feel that was the one he wanted.....now I see

him coloring and writing with his left and eating and throwing with his

right....I teach Kindergarten and this year have a girl who is left handed in

my classroom and when gets home is righty....her mother and I had no idea

until the first parent/teacher conference and I said something about being

lefty and she said " no, she uses her right hand " .. After 17 years teaching I

had never run into something like that!!!!!!
