Guest guest
Yes, we have had good success for my son with oral motor exercises to reduce drooling problems as well as improve speech. My son is now 3.5 and we have seen a big improvement from 3 to now. My son receives oral motor therapy once a week to help strengthen his oral muscles. I have had the same fears as you about teasing, but can now see that something can be done to help. He still drools sometimes if he has been especially verbal or eating certain foods, but at the end of the day he no longer has a stain that runs from top to the bottom of his shirt. Good luck! (Mom to Spencer age 3.5 - Moderate Verbal Dyspraxia and Audrey age 8 - great big sister)
Guest guest
Spencer drooled more when he ate sweet things such as M & M's. I remember that one because of the rainbow of colors I would try and remove in the wash! When he eats he tends to overstuff the mouth which I thought was to blame when he ate harder to chew foods. Hope this answers your question.
Guest guest
Hello Efalex helps the drooling a lot, in my son's case. (It helps other things too, but the drooling was the one where we could see the change most clearly. Guest guest
Hi My son Liam, now three, drooled all of the time. In his case after we started the EFA's it stopped. He started talking and stopped drooling. My theory is that the EFA's gave him the control over his muscles and in turn helped to strengthen them as he used them more. Hope this helps
Guest guest
, I just wanted to ask when you started Liam on the EFAs? My daughter, Jenna will be 3 in July, we started ProEFA today- I just found out about it this week. How much was Liam talking before you started it? I have read quite a few messages on this site, but am still kind of skeptical that it could be so easy after over 2 years of therapy and frustration... I love to hear the success stories- not only of the supplements, but to also give us hope that Jenna will have functional communication skills. She has low tone, and just isn't quite talking- but babbles constantly, and is very social. As she gets closer to 3- I can really start to see the other kids noticing that something is not quite right with her (between the drooling, and the not talking, and then just the noises -babbling/squealing)... I just hope that with all of the therapy(speech 5x/wk, PT 2x and OT 2x), and now the EFAs, along with all of the oral motor stuff we do at home, that something will kick in and get her going...
