Guest guest
Hi Ann Marie! A year ago I was in your place. I started Liam last June on EFA's. He did not talk much at all. In the past he had a few words but lost them. When I started him on the EFA's he was saying ma, da and baba for baby. Liam would talk but it always came out dat, dat, dat or bop, bop, bop. It was like he knew what he was saying but the connection was not there. Liam now will repeat about anything. He still has problems with sequencing and articulation. Both are continuing to improve though! My speech therapist taught me how to work with him so I do all of the modeling and just started prompting with sign language for sequencing. So technically he is not getting therapy right now and continuing to improve! EFA's have been a miracle in my sons life. A year ago I believed that life would be so difficult for him. I had my fair share of worries. Today I still get a little concerned about learning to read and write. Thats the mother in Me (worring in advance),but when I think about where we were last year it is unbelieveable. I know from watching my son it is the EFA's and not just developemental. After you spend time watching your child make such slow to no progress in speech and then start them on the EFA's and watch the difference it is amazing. I know that people still think he just grew out of it, but I have stopped him and watched him go back down hill. I also have a friend whose son has apraxia and started him on ProEFA. He is doing awesome. He is four and following the through the steps Liam went through because he started them later. I do know they affect kids differently because all kids are different but in general they have been so helpful to kids with apraxia. ProEFA has been the most helpful for kids with apraxia. My son does better on Efalex, but my 1year old does better on ProEFA. Unless you see it for yourself it is hard to believe. I hope this helps you. Keep in mind that a response happens sooner in some kids than others. It can take up to three months to see a difference in many cases it is much less though. It took about a month and I was hearing different sounds out of Liam. In a months time I know he said " I wet " I saw it on video. It has been so long I forgot how he use to sound! If you have any other questions please feel free to e-mail me I remember what it felt like in the beginning with all of the questions! >From: " rags10465 " <rags10465@...> >Reply- > >Subject: [ ] Re: drooling >Date: Sun, 21 Apr 2002 02:34:28 -0000 > >, >I just wanted to ask when you started Liam on the EFAs?
