Guest guest
My husband asks, what about heating KT, as in drinking hot tea? As when one has a sore throat, or just likes a hot drink that isn't coffee? Does this cause any detriment to the tea, or its healthful properties? Guest guest
Warm enough *not* to kill the bacteria *ought* to be O.K. But you have remember that, in the loosest sense of the word, the stuff *is* live. Too hot and it'll snuff it, just like us. It is most soothing. Don't forget your vitamin C either..... Guest guest
Thanks for the replies-- we'll try not to " over " heat it, but do think it will be helpful. I appreciate the input! blessings, Beth Re: hot KT? In message <002601c93601$a889a530$6101a8c0@kitchen> you wrote: > My husband asks, what about heating KT, as in drinking hot tea? Guest guest
Hi Beth, If you heat the kt to hot tea or coffee temps you will certainly kill most of the bacteria and enzymes... BUT that does not make your kt useless because you will still have all the beneficial acids from the bacteria. It'll still be good for you as long as you don't react to histamines. When bacteria die and rupture (a gross thought indeed) they release histamines. BTW, that's why some people are allergic to pastuerized milk. I'm not talking about lactose intolerance, I mean allergic. When the bacteria are killed, they release histamines... ever hear of an antihistamine? Most people that are allergic to " milk " can drink raw milk fine. Lactose intolerance is a differant story, although raw milk cures it even better... about 95% of the cases. The enzyme lactase is simply killed in the pastuerization, and lactase is necesary to digest lactose. The reason why most people can drink pastuerized milk is because most people's bodies can make their own lactase. Anyway... I talked about kt in the first part. ;-) Rodrick hot KT? Guest guest
I have a tendency to 'over' brew my KT. It is usually leaning towards, or is vinegar. I like to make my (non K)tea, then let it cool a bit, then top it off with a good helping of my KT. Gives my tea that extra punch, and hoping that warm tea will leave many of the kt benefits in tact. -Jenna Kane wrote: > > Warm enough *not* to kill the bacteria *ought* to be O.K. > But you have remember that, in the loosest sense of the word, the stuff > *is* live.
