My friend's son just had surgery because he was " tongue-tied " . It only took

about 15 minutes.

I guess it runs in her husband's family so her mother-in-law told her to look

into it. They had the surgery done, otherwise, the little boy may have been

delayed in speech because of it.

My son has a short frenum (the piece of skin that holds the tongue)

His private therapist feels that it is limiting him as he can't stick

his tongue out very far and has difficulty moving it laterally. I took

him to an oral surgeon who agreed with the therapist. He is scheduled

to have it cut in 2 weeks. Although the surgeon can't guarentee that

it will help his speech, his SLP and myself both believe that it can't

hinder it. From what I understand, it's a relatively simple procedure,

done under general anethesia for the younger children. My son is 3.

The recoup time is 1-2 days!! I'll let you know how it goes.
