I am new to the group but have made kt for awhile now. Not a pro but

its working out. I way way over brewed a batch of tea for like 6 weeks.

I have a great scoby out of it but the tea brings tears to your eyes

just smelling it. Any way I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions

on how this over ripe stuff could be helpfull for any health or beauty

uses. Are there any benifits for topical use? Or because of its

strength would it have a higher health benifit then reg brew if you

consumed it. Just wondering.

Thanks

I was reading along these lines somewhere, don't ask where cause I haven't a

clue, they were talking about KT vinegar.  They were saying use it just like you

would apple cider vinegar.  You might try some of it like that.  I know some

people the ACV like an astringent for cleaning the face, you might try that.

Hi Sherri....you may certainly consume it. It may be more palatable if you

dilute it with water or juice, however.

It may indeed be used in place of ACV, but is not as acidic as ACV.

It may be used for cleaning as you would vinegar.

I put in in my hot and sour soup recipe and add a touch to my other broth

based soups, also, to give them added flavor instead of using more salt.

It may also be used as excellent starter liquid for your next and subsequent

brews of Kombucha.

Sherri, your over-brewed KT is an excellent source for starting your next few

brews, also for your scoby hotels, and if diluted, can be used in many ways . .

.. like as a wonderful hair tonic rinse, addition to facial masks, to bath

waters, and can be added to all good vinegars for another layer of taste

complexity and nutrition. Small diluted amounts are good in liquid compost

teas for plants. You can also add it diluted to sprays for pests in the kitchen

(with water, mouthwash or liquid soap & essential oils), on your screens, etc.

It's a non-poisoneous medium that can be used all kinds of useful and creative

ways around the house, with pets, plants, etc. Norma p.s. just remembered

another use; small extra very pretty scobys for sharing. .. put in a small

bottle with good lid, cover and put away somewhere for about 3 months. You'll

have a lovely little scoby to share with someone or to use yourself. Most of

the scobys in my 3 hotels are very ugly and scary-looking to new folk; they are

tan to brown, with humps & bumps, holes and yucky stringy things hanging about.

I love 'em all, but they are off-putting to others! lol, N

I have mixed my vinegarized kt with sweet tea 1/2 & 1/2, let it sit

overnight, and the next morning it was fine. Like instant kt.
