Guest guest
I have heard that Kombucha helps with Candida and I am sure others will elaborate.? Tell me more about the tea plant though!? Dorene Is Kombucha effective on Candida Hi Every body I am new to this group. I found my way here because as recently as this week I tested positive for systemic Candida, co-incidently at the time I was given a Kombucha tea plant. Could any one with experience with Candida, had success with using Kombucha to eliminate the Candida overgrowth.

Welcome , May I just mention that The Kombucha culture is not a fungus (singular of fungi), but a symbiotic culture of Bacteria and Yeasts. Fungi would be toadstool and mushrooms for example. Kombucha is quite a different life-form. Your question 'how to brew a very acidic KT is simple: You leave it to ferment until has reached the acidity that you desire. Try at 2 weeks' fermentation and see whether it has converted all the sugar yet/is acidic enough yet. Guest guest
Hello johnagiese, First of all what are you calling a Kombucha tea plant? Thats a new one for me. Now as for Candida and KT Yes I have found it to be amazingly effective in controlling the overgrowth. One application of a very acidic brew and it was GONE GONE GONE. I prefer to drink it a bit on the sweet side, but for Candida it needs to be more acidic. zoe Saturday, November 22, 2008, 4:12:35 PM, you wrote: > Hi Every body I am new to this group. Guest guest
The old mind is boggling away that nobody has used the word SCOBY for these folk, so I will (Oops sorry Margret just noticed it in the lower bit) ;¬) SYMBIOTIC CULTURE/COLONY OF BACTERIA (and) YEASTS So far as the Candida is concerned if what herself suffers from, shall we, tactfully say, beneath the " overhangs " is Candida then KT certainly works. O' one more question can you eat the SCOBY or is that a disturbing thought for all you Kombucha lovers, and I think I am about to fall in love. And would it be effective in getting the bacteria into the lower intestines. > > > > >> Hi Every body I am new to this group. Guest guest
Hi ... I daily give SCOBY cream to my hounds mixed into their evening meal. I don't know if it enhances their immune systems or not...but they seem to like the flavor. Guest guest
, I think you will be pleased with it as a topical candida weapon. I have been. Guest guest
Thanks for your comments on my question Gayle. Do you mean to apply the tea to the skin full strength, what alerted me to the Candida was I was having re-occurring rashes on my ankles and lower legs, Doctors were of no use at all in fact I had to search for myself thru trial and error to get to the root of the problem, I am thankful while it has been frustrating and difficult to get this feeling of real well being back, now I know its close at hand as well I have learnt a lot about my body and it also took me on a internal journey, so obviously for me to learn. The problems came after a significant life traumas happening together, so a lot of stress, which I now understand the effects on the immune system. thanks again to all > Hey thanks to all who replyed for my request for info on Candida, nice > to come across an open caring group. > I will let you know how I go with the SCOBY and use for Candida > Start your day with 7 and win a Sony Bravia TV. Guest guest
... Yes, I typically apply my acidic KT directly to areas of the skin where I have problems with Candida overgrowth. If that is a bit daunting, I see no reason why you could no start with a dilution and go from there. Stress is an often neglected factor in compromised immunity. Recognizing that is a first step towards finding avenues to deal with it.... :-) Gayle On Nov 23, 2008, at 1:36 AM, john giese wrote: > Thanks for your comments on my question Gayle. Guest guest
,I was bed ridden from Candida for a year and unable to work for 3 1/2 years. The doctors had NO IDEA what was wrong and, when I first got sick, I was eating sugar and drinking caffeine to stay awake at work, which made the Candida worse and worse and worse (in case you don't know, caffeine kills off the acidopholus, which is one of the main things that controls the Candida in your body.) I finally learned about Candida and, through nutrition and suppliments, I was able to function and begin working part time again. But for 8 years, I lived with chronic pain in both my joints and muscles. Sometimes it was mild and sometimes horrible, but it was ALWAYS there. When I started on the kombucha a few months ago, my life literally changed. I still get a sore back if I sleep wrong or whatever, but the chronic pain is completely gone! I occasionally still get an outbreak, but usually only when I've been really busy and haven't had as much KT as usual. Last week I had an outbreak of thrush so bad that my tongue was peeling! A nurse told me to go to the doctor if it didn't clear up in a couple of days. I drank 16 oz of KT ... swishing it around in my mouth ... just to make sure there was plenty on my tongue ... and it completely cleared up in a couple of hours. I also apply it topically to outbreaks or, if it is a really bad rash, I will apply a thin scoby to the rash. I actually make small scobys just for first aid purposes. As for my KT, I bottle mine still slightly sweet - can't drink it too acidic - but only flavor with herbal tea bags so that I'm not adding any sugar at that point. Guest guest
My personal experience is that I struggled with candida overgrowth for a couple of years before I discovered kombucha. I tried lots of different, complicated regimens to rid myself of the candida, but only really started finding relief when I started consuming fermented food & drinks regularly. I drink kombucha & kefir and eat saurkraut often, and experiment with other ferments when I find easy recipes. I find that when my body is getting the great bacteria, I no longer crave sugary foods. I've even lost my taste for sweet vegetables, for the most part. I find myself craving more and more green veggies now. I have to consciously make sure I'm adequately hydrated and regularly exercise, but that's where my breakthrough came from. I say save your money from the expensive candida cleanses and give fermentation a real try first. Last week on NPR I heard an interview with a researcher doing work on bacteria in the gut and immunity. He said something to the effect that putting good bacteria in your gut is a lot like living in a productive neighborhood that is full of families, animals, symbiotic relationships - there's no room for squatters. > > Hi Every body I am new to this group. Guest guest
It has been my experience....(and I have systemic Candidia very very badly....when tested it was 3 times the max level...and that reading is usually not a good indicator!!! ) that Kombachu is just the beginning of getting rid of it. It takes a change in diet....usually the removal of gluten, definitely most carbs and sugar and lots of yeast killers and probiotics. But usually finding out that you have systemic candidia is just the beginning of the story. For me, there was a thyroid issue, a copper issue, and a heavy metal issue, mostly from the paints I used and vaccines, and the candidia issue prolly from all the antibiotics I had. Kombachu is great for acidifying the gut and that in itself will help with the yeast in the gut...but for me the systemic meant that it wasn't just in my gut....it was about everywhere...so it has been a long arduous journey and am still on it. The KT will help...but you will need much more if you have systemic. hth Ronni > > Hi Every body I am new to this group.
