Hello jm_dottavio,

Stainless steel is OK for strainers, I've had mine for at least 3 yrs.

Just make sure they are really stainless and not some cheap imitation.

If you feel the need to strain your KT then by all means do so. I do

pick the little scobys out when they form but thats not often. Some of

these good folks actually swallow those little scobys but thats just not

my cup of tea LOL. Yes do what ever you need to do in order to be able to

enjoy your KT. I like it just the way it is so wasn't thinking when I

replied.
