Plastic caps, scoby and carbonation levels

by the way, i do use the caps that come on the GTs. to avoid the metallic taste

that leaves, i just dont drink right from the bottle, but pour it into a glass.

small individual bottles of juice (like welch's and ocean spray) have plastic

lids that fit, but are just a smidge too tall and the grooves dont seem to match

so the seal is not great, but if you experiement, you might come up with a

solution.

also, for your new culture, what area of the country are you in? or i should say

the world considering a few of our most active members are on the other side of

the big pond!

speaking of carbonation, it seems to me that as my bottles sit for the second

ferment, the ones i open to check for carbonation levels end up with way more

fizz than the ones i dont. have any of you noticed this phenomena? is opening it

and letting in more air actually allowing more activity and therfore more

carbonation? i was finding it odd that the beer bottles i cap have far less

carbonation than the GT bottles, and had assumed that they werent sealing well

for some reason, but now i think the opposite is true, they are permanently

sealed, so i never " burp " them and let in more air. am i totally off base  here?

anyone else willing to experiment and see if its some strange reaction i am

getting?

I have been extremely busy and have not had the time to make my Kombucha... I

need my daily fix.. SO I came back to GT Dave's.. Still very much iimpressed

with the effervescence and frankly I like the taste..

I now have 25 bottles of GT Dave's KT.. Where can i buy Plastic caps for these.

I need the caps to retain the pressure, I really like MY KT fizzy, dry and

cold...

Oh I was about to forget.. I will also soon need new culture... Will pay for

postage...
