seeking Bellevue/Seattle-area scoby and kombucha-minded beacons of light

Hello from Minneapolis! I've been happily brewing since the

summertime, but I'm brand new to this list. I've been developing my

own kombucha pages for my local friends

(http://ajoyfulgirl.wordpress.com/kombucha/), so I've been poking

around online to bone up my knowledge, and I just discovered this

community.

At the moment I'm seeking to hook up my dear friend with a reliable

kombucha mother. She moved from Minneapolis to Bellevue, WA, in

September for a fabulous employment opportunity, but due to the amount

of time she spends at work, she has little opportunity to build

community around herself and is feeling out of place in Bellevue.

She's celiac, and she's really missing her regular kombucha fix. My

lovely friend is a single mom with limited transportation options and

limited leisure time in front of the computer, so I'm hoping to get

the ball rolling for her.

If anyone here could personally deliver her a scoby at no charge, I

would be immensely grateful. Better yet, I would love for her to be

showered with all sorts of lovely " kombucha-minded " tribal support,

and I would consider anything you can offer along those lines to be

such a gift! Feel free to message me off-list.

(As a last resort, I will mail her a scoby. In digging around online,

I'm surprised to see that it's been done.)

In gratitude,

~

...SCOBY's get sent through the mail, a lot!

My favorite method is to enclose the SCOBY in a ziplock bag and then

enclose that in a seal-a-meal type bag.

If you don't have a vacuum seal unit, just use two or even three

ziplocs enclosed one in the next ensuring each is properly sealed.

In the same package I sent a pint or so of finished acidic KT in a

tightly capped plastic soda bottle.

All this goes out Priority USPS.

It is also possible send just the SCOBY packaged as above and have her

use white distilled vinegar for starter liquid in her first batch.

Hope this helps you help your friend!
