Guest guest
Sometimes someone says or writes something that hits so close to home it hurts. That's the way I felt about your paragraph wondering whether the doctor ever cries alone at night or wonders if his child will bag groceries for a living. Thanks, it always helps to know I'm not alone. is now eight. I used to worry, when he was three, about the grocery bag thing. Now I worry about his safety, who will take care of him, and who will love him when I'm gone. I don't really even expect him to be able to bag groceries. (Though I'm open to the possibility.)I guess the images of fear change as our children grow older. Sometimes things get better, but for many of us, they don't. On the bright side, I have a wonderful geneticist. had all those blood tests and they all came back negative. The doctor was extremely supportive and caring. He's in SE Michigan. He wrote long answers back to me on email and took all of my concerns very seriously. We still don't know why is the way he is. But I think it's important to pace yourself. Sometimes you need a break from all the research and the blood tests -- time to just enjoy your child. Good luck with Stevie.
