Guest guest
Traci, My daughter had delayed myelination, we used DHA Jr., Dr. Katz recommended a couple of journal articles which supported DHA and improved myelination. Seems like everybody else tends to use the ProEFA for speech improvements. It's hard to get information from the local doctors regarding doseage, hopefully these clinical trials will help and the publicity from the documentaries that are underway will help too. Guest guest
Deirder, What test was used to determine that your daughter had delayed myelinization? I'm very curious because my daughter's fatty acid profile showed she was within normal levels, but I decided to try the ProEfa anyway (she had eczema). The eczema cleared up, so obviously the blood analysis didn't tell the whole story. Thanks, Barbara Deirdre Fisher wrote: Traci, > " My daughter had delayed myelination.... Guest guest
I was told by the doctors that delayed myelination can be determined through an MRI or nerve biopsy. I don't know if fatty acid profile would detect delayed myelin. I read in an article that DHA is necessary for myelin production, so we were hoping to help both the myelin production and apraxia by using ProEFA. Guest guest
The nuerologist ordered a MRI which showed several regions of the brain were below age appropriate levels. A second MRI done a year later showed essentially normal myelination. We used the DHA Jr. a couple of months prior to the MRI but you couldn't really attribute the progress to the DHA based on this info.
