Guest guest
For those of you who could not attend the hearing please feel free to email testimony to them at: .Emery@.... is the senior policy advisor to the President's Commission on Excellence in Special Education. Talking points you may want to use include: IDEA basically works Discipline provisions work (they are receiving lots of info from school districts saying that they need more power) Parents are able to participate in their child's educational process and collaborate with teams. Training is needed for teachers working with kids with low-incidence disabilities The panel highly encouraged us to email testimony to them - they said it is the easiest way for them to get info to other panel members and that they will read it and consider it as they develop their recommendations for the reauthorization of IDEA. From Patty McGill I have heard from my old friends and colleagues in Washington, DC that it is extremely important that parents, educators and advocates speak out at these meetings. Speak out as though your life depends on it........your children's lives do depend on it. We need a reauthorization that reflects the real needs of our children and their teachers.
