Guest guest
The messages re: eye problems were especially timely in my case. My daughter has a myriad of issues, not easily defined but one of them is mild extrapyramidal cerebral palsy. When she went to her OT last week, the OT noticed her left eye was not converging properly. The OT asked whether my daughter, who is seven, had ever had an eye exam. Well, she has gotten routine vision screening through the school system but they apparently have not picked up on this. In my daughter's case, when you move a pencil close in to her nose, both eyes will go in to look at it, then the left eye " drifts " back out. We have an appointment with a pediatric opthamalogist on Monday but am perplexed as to why this was not caught before now. From what I have read, this is probably strabismus (Cross-eyes) and can be treated with an eye patch, corrective glasses and/or surgery.
