Guest guest
I know that many of you have put your children on gluten/casein free diets, but I was wondering if any of you actually saw an issue prior to this. I ask bc my son had unexplained diarrhea (loose stools, not frequent) for months at about 18 mos - 2.5. We even had him tested for parasites. Now he drinks lactaid and we haven't seen the problem at all since... I've been reading about " leaky gut " and was wondering if this could be tied in somehow. Wanted to ask anecdotally if anyone had any thoughts... Thanks - Marina
Guest guest
Marina, My son gets loose stools because of food allergies. When the offending foods are not given the stools are fine. Ingesting foods the child is allergic too on a regular basis can lead to leaky gut. nne > I know that many of you have put your children on gluten/casein free > diets, but I was wondering if any of you actually saw an issue prior > to this. Guest guest
Marina, It sounds like a possibility. There are blood and urine tests to check. These supposedly are not always reliable. My son really didn't have any symptoms, but the urine test showed an abnormal amount of casein. When we took milk out of his diet, we did see immediate changes- and when we slipped-up a few times, his bowels showed it! Maybe you could keep a journal of food your child eats and see if you can find any correlations. Do you have a good dr. to discuss it with? Our dev. pediatrician has advised us on the diet and nutritional supplements. Just some thoughts, amy [ ] Allergies, unexplained diarrhea...
