Guest guest
Here's the speech therapy matrix. You might want to use this in your IEP. Good luck! Guest guest
The matrix was not attached to the message. Can you paste it in the message instead? > Here's the speech therapy matrix. Guest guest
http://www.apraxia.cc/ Someone else posted the link. It's on the apraxia home page under therapy matrix. > The matrix was not attached to the message. Can you paste it in the > message instead? > > > > Here's the speech therapy matrix. Guest guest
Hi , In an attempt to find more clarity to your question, I sent your message on to a good friend and this was her response to me. Hope this can help. Mustafa ------------------------ , My thought would be to guide her to build her case. Ask her how he has progressed with 1/2 hour per week, is he getting further ahead or lagging further behind? That will give her the answers to both of her questions, because it will suggest whether or not he needs more therapy and it will begin to lay the groundwork for asserting that to the school. In particular, if she looks at his percentile scores on similar testing, comparing the scores over time, she can chart whether he's getting his needs met adequately. For example, if he was in the lower 20% when he was 3, and is now up to 40%, he's doing pretty well. But if he was in the lower 20% at 3 and has now increased to only the lower 25%, I would push for more speech therapy, knowing that he'll be starting kindergarten soon enough (and we want our kids to be talking pretty well by then, if possible). The aim is to get to a solid 50% range, where a child is at least " average " at speech/language, compared to peers. The school can also look at other factors, like the degree of frustration he is showing due to his inability to communicate (school would look at these types of factors in order to rationalize increased therapy). The private SLP's recommendation for increased therapy (ie written recommendation) would also be helpful in documenting need for more therapy. > Hi > > I have a 4yr who has speech delay and his IEP meeting > is coming up, he gets 1/2 a hour of speech therapy a > week in school and a hour from the pediatric place at > our cost.
