Guest guest
A titer requires blood be drawn. Nothing will be given. But remember that it is not law in NJ that a second MMR be given. Only measles is required. Check out http://www.state.nj.us/health/ed/chap14.htm. JoAnne NJ Subject: Re: Question about Titers\Tiders (sp?) I will definitely ask my pediatrician this, but as long as I am logged on.....so, instead of the pre-K MMR booster, I can ask for a titer\tider (sp?) which will say whether or not my son is already immune to these 3 diseases, therefore rendering the booster unnecessary? I have a Lab requisition form in front of me and I see a test called 'Rubeola (Immune Status)'...so I guess it would be something like that? Just curious, cause a shot would be easier (meaning right in the Dr's office) but if I could avoid poisoning my child...I'll take him to a lab. I am taking his brother to have his blood tested for mercury and lead, anyway (hence the form). One more question...is a titer a shot or do they draw blood for it?? Thanks..for everyone's help with this. I started this current set of vaccine posts because Wesley is about to turn 5 and needs his pre-K boosters. I have found ALL of your posts very helpful.
