Guest guest
, I hate to say it but you are mistaken. Waivers are given to people who chose not to immunize their children. Originally only religious waivers were given to Jehovah Witness' and other religious people who do not believe in vaccinations of any kind. Now many Chiropractors and other holistic people obtain waivers. So there are children in our public and private school systems who are not vaccinated at all or only partially. I'm not taking a stand on this controversial topic just pointing out that waivers can be obtained. Besides the fact that it is beyond easy to " doctor " a document of immunization. Schools do not have the time to check that information. (NJ) >>>>> " diverse nationalities and god knows what may be brought into the school as you say, since by law in the United States children are not allowed to enter the public school system unless they provide proof that their youngster has received their immunizations and have been examined by a physician. Guest guest
In California, you don't have to have your child immunized to go to school. Here is the link for the information: http://www.dhs.ca.gov/ps/dcdc/izgroup/pdf/IMM222%204-01.pdf " Your child may be exempted from some or all immunizations by a doctor because of a medical condition. Your child may be exempted by you because of your personal or religious beliefs. Ask your school or child care provider for details. " Also, in California we have lots of illegal immigrants that are not immunized that are in our schools. That is one of the reasons whooping cough is making a comeback. Also, there are lots more cases of tuberculosis. Suzi
Guest guest
Well, in California the problem is not with legal immigrants. As you state, they have to pass strict immunization requirements. The problem here is with the illegal immigrants who do not get immunized. The public schools are supposed to not let illegals into our schools, but most of the public schools are ignoring the law. Suzi > Actually, immigrants are required to pass strict immunization requirements imposed by the INS before they even set foot in the U.S., and it is next to impossible to get exemptions (unlike some state requirements, which can be avoided with a note from the right doctor). There is no such requirement for American adults, or kids not attending public schools, or kids who are able to get exemptions from sympathetic doctors or for religious reasons. So a community of immigrant children and their families are likely to be better immunized than a similar community of non-immigrant Americans.
