Guest guest
Hi there, Just found this list after doing a search on " late talker " . My son is 25 months old and not talking at all. His pediatrician has recommended we go to get a speech therapy evaluation which we'll set up for next week. We've been operating under the assumption that he was just late to talking and that we had a " little Einstein " on our hands. After reading about things at the apraxia website, I'm now quite sure that he has apraxia and will need therapy. 's *very* intelligent. You can see that just by observing him. He's developed his own set of signs to tell us what he wants/needs. But the only thing he says right now is mamamamama. He did dadadada for awhile, but is back to mamamamama. He's a very expressive kid - uses his face to tell us all sorts of things. But he's just not talking. His 6-month-old sister seems more inclined to talk than he does, and at this rate she will talk before he does. In any case, if anyone has any words of wisdom for us, or whatever, I'd be very interested. We're not quite yet used to the idea that there might be something " wrong " with our perfect little boy. Thanks for listening, and I look forward to being a member of this group. Sincerely,
