Guest guest
, My friend with SI child can tell from his behavior if he accidently got milk product at pre-school or something. She saw positive results with-in about 5 days of eliminating casin from diet. He is diagnosed with SI and apraxia. He has been on this diet for past 2 years and with 3 kids that is really difficult to maintain so his Mom is now trying to add some of foods back slowly. She has been noticing things like milk chocolate quickly results in melt downs but regular chocolate doesn't bother him at all. I have also read that casin free diets are being experimented with on some psych patients-just schizophrenia if I remember right. I also read quite a while ago of SI Mom who had blood levels tested on her child who was on casin free and I think wheat free too for over year and when they ran tests they still found some of both in his body which would indicate that some people are unable to process it properly. I have also heard it works well on ADD kids(but so many SI kids end up being diagnosed as ADD later that may be why). When I briefly was considering it for either apraxic ds or older ADHD ds I know there is a lot of information on it on the Internet but in fairness that has been probably 1 1/2 yrs ago and I don't remember the details anymore. I decided it wouldn't help apraxic ds and might help ADD ds but he is doing pretty well and it would be a real hassle. Dawn Dawn, I never heard this in terms of sensory issues. I know that it works well for some autistic kids who have sensory issues, but had not heard of this in terms of SI without autism. Does that makes sense? denise > , > SI kids tend to be better on casin (milk free) diets. You might try soy > milk for awhile and see if that helps. _______________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE email account at iVillage.com! http://webmail.ivillage.com/
